Snacks

Hi. Can anyone give any ideas on what to eat for low carb snacks. At the moment all I can think of is peanut butter, or cheese on celery. Getting boring.

Nuts are great. I have a daily snack of 50g of mixed unsalted nuts, can't remember the exact amount of carbs but its about 5g per portion and very low GI. I was told my my dietician that they contain "good" fats that you're body needs.

I second that - peanuts are great and handy.

Otherwise cheese (babybels keep for ages), peparami, jelly, gk yoghurt..

Pork scratchings are a favourite of mine too but it depends on how good your teeth are!!

Seeds and nuts...but check the carb value of the nut first.

I keep mini Peperami, ham & cheese in the fridge for a quick nibbles. You can wrap the ham around a stick of cheese which is quite filling, or poach a chicken breast in some stock with a few herbs tucked in the breast and then slice it however you like, thick or thin. It keeps for a day or two though it never lasts that long. A tub of low fat greek style yoghurt to which you can add some nuts or berried (I keep Sainsbury's Basics Berry mix in the freezer and stir a few of those into the yoghurt). I find I tend to snack when I'm bored so try and keep myself occupied (books, a walk, some music, gardening etc).
