so cunfused today :(

Roxy44 - don't panic. I've been diagnosed over three years now and still struggling to work it all out! After 40 years of eating what I want it's a battle adjust. I've found cutting out gravy (of any kind) / using granules keeps BG low. Potatoes of any kind seem to act like a rocket to my levels, but then everyone is different. Sugarless Sue (and others) gave me some excellent advice about keeping a food diary to see what does what (unfortunatly I'm v useless at maintaining it :( ). Yes colds and flu can screw figures around - and the majority of over counter medicines are rammed with sugar (or one of the multitude disguised ones!!). The only, professional, advice I got was to just take paracetemol and it'll go away. Hmmmm. Keep up the hard work and I'm sure you'll get through okay. At least everyone on the forum is here to help! :D

Thanx sammo

some days are good and somedays not so good :)

today seems to be good,

i have kept a food diary with my bs reading since they told me 4 weeks ago,
so i have something to compare against,

started excerising last week...just 15 mins on the trampett, not much but better than nothing, infact just done 15mins, now having a glass of water,

just hope my body will feel better soon and have lots more good days, instead of wanting to fall alseeep most of the afternoon
i am fighting 2 things though...when i had my bloods done just before diagnosis, i was told i was very anemic too...so both things dont help, but i am onto it.....not a bit of rubbish has passed my lips in 4 weeks...

xx

Hi Roxy.

You are doing great, it's a massive change living with T2. I was diagnosed 18 months ago with a BG of 26. I found that controlling my carbohydrate intake is the only way to keep my BG in check. I started at 100grams per day and this brought my BG under control. I try to say maximum 20grams at any one meal and this seems to reduce spikes. For me, cereals, potatoes, rice, pastry, pasta and White bread are off limits as they send me sky high. Everything else in moderation. I found the Collins book of carbs helped me plan my meals.

Good luck
Carl
