...if the rest of your blood glucose levels are low and within a tight range?

Generally, after a liver block breakfast i.e. Coffee and heavy cream/ coconut oil, my bloods are good i.e. 5.1-5.4. I don't usually eat then until 6pm (hflc) and 1 hour postprandial is 5.8- 6.4, 2 hours it's about 5.5-5.9. However, next morning fbg are into 6 - 7's. it's really annoying as I've tried most things the night before - wine, cheese, vinegar - nothing seems to change the dp so is it that bad in the bigger scheme of things?

I really do not think we can do anything about it as you say you have tried most things but as you levels are good the rest of the time then I believe the morning levels will not do you any harm they must be what they are for a good reason. I am sure even non diabetics have higher levels first thing Mine like yours is always in the 6 to7's as well no matter what I do the night before. I do not worry about it I do not test every morning probably only about two or three times week these days

How long have you been low carbing? it took about 7-8 months for my FBG's to come down to the same levels as my others...just carry on doing what you are doing. I have noticed maybe a slight improvement in mine since I started an Apple Cyder Vinegar dose before bed.. it may be a coincidence but who knows.. I use the Aspalls organic with "the Mother" as it seems to be the recommended one for this purpose.. for god's sake dilute it as it is revolting neat. I have a tablespoon in a big glass of badoit along with my magnesium supplement.

How dangerous is your body working as intended ??

I dunno, but I'd be far more worried if it stopped working properly.

At that level, glucose is not terribly dangerous. BUT what it often implies is that the circulating insulin level may be correspondingly high. The chronically elevated insulin level brings with it increased risks in other chronic conditions.

And following Dr Jason Fung's explanation, I simply fasted for a couple of evenings (skipped dinner) and my fasting glucose stabilize around 5.5 mmol.

Think about it this way. The Dawn Phenomenon is simply moving sugar from body stores (liver) into the blood. That’s it. If your body stores are filled to bursting, then you will expel as much of that sugar as possible. By itself it is neither good nor bad. It is simply a marker that your body has too much sugar. Solution? Simple. Either don’t put any sugar in (LCHF) or burn it off (Fasting). Even better? LCHF + IF.

And when I go on extended multi-day fast, my fasting glucose goes 1 mmol lower to around 4.5 mmol. The goal of the multi-day fast is an attempt to perhaps regenerate some new beta cells and restore some phase 1 insulin response...by moving back the timeline to -10 yrs or more....

To answer your question, it all depends how long your DP lasts ie what time does it start? Have you tested during the night at all? It may simply start the second you wake up. A Libre sensor would answer that question for you.

My personal opinion is a DP means your liver is looking after you. I rather like my liver free to do its natural job. I know a large DP is annoying, but one like yours isn't that large - and may be very short lived. It is also not at danger levels. I still do test my FBG (out of habit) but do not rely on it to tell me how I'm doing. There are so many variables outside our control.
