I was Diagnosed with Type 2 this week. I have been advised to change my diet , reduce sugars and reduce amount of starchy foods like bread, potatoes etc. I am making sure that i have breakfast every morning, as i know this is essential. the problem i am having is between meals i am craving snacks etc, if anyone can suggest any snack that i could have that wont have an effect on my blood sugar i would really appreciate it. do these cravings improve i wonder if its my body craving sugar

Well it is sort of your body craving sugar lol. Thing is once diagnosed and make changes to diet, meds etc, this will have an effect on your blood sugar. depends on how high your levels were pre diagnosis, but once they start to drop your body has to get used to the lower levels. Will ease with time.

hi, welcome

nuts!

its all a terrible shock at first, dont worry we all go through it, fat has no effect on blood sugar levels and satiates hunger so make sure your meals contain fat (this is contentious, but in my opinion) your body is in shock i expect, try to be strong, in the beginning, i tried to think of hunger as medicine, if i was hungry that meant i hadnt just eaten something that was killing me and therefore a good thing, i dont think hunger is good thing and dont think a diet that makes you hungry is sustainable, it just got me through the shock to my system of not eating 3 takeaways a day lol you will get used to eating less and better, as said will take a while.

congrats on taking the first steps

best of luck and ask any questions you may have

edit.... i meant eat nuts as a snack lol

Olives and antipasti are also low carb and great kept in the fridge for snacking too when you feel the need plus a few pork scratchings are good provided your teeth are good!
