Hi wonder if you guys can shed some light. I have been following a very strict LCHF diet for about six weeks and am doing well with it in that weight is coming off and bs seems to be under control. Yesterday however for some reason I had a reading that didn’t seem right and did another on the other hand and it was 1.5 ml different. Later I did 4 in a row and they ranged from 5 to 7. Given that I am just starting out and testing after I try anything new to eat I feel a bit disillusioned as the numbers could potentially mean nothing. Could anyone cast any light on this.
Also my bs has come down from26 and seems to be (if the numbers are right) hovering around the 6-7 mark before and after food. Would however like to get lower and come off the meds (I’m on 2 x 500g metaformin daily). Again any advice would be appreciated. Have a good Saturday everyone.

When you consume food, the blood near your stomach absorbs nutrients and therefore the glucose levels there are higher than everywhere else until it gets pumped around your system.

So don't expect 2 different fingers to be the same unless your levels have been flat for a while.

Meter accuracy is the next thing to consider. In the UK you can expect meters to be accurate within +/- 15% which still leaves plenty of scope for variation of course.

You're doing OK. Be patient and chin up!
