Hi guys basically I finished my last job about eight weeks ago so about three weeks ago after my last wage was done I signed on and started looking for work and found a job on Friday I never knew I wpuld have to wait five weeks for my first payment so I have absaloutly no money. So I started my new job today and I will not get paid for six weeks as it's two weeks lion time and I'm due two weeks jobcentre money wich isn't alot I called the jobcentre to ask for help with money for lunches ect as I'm type one diabetic they told me I can't get any help so I argued a bit with them. I said so I can't take this job then they told me I will not be able to get any money of I don't take the job so what the he'll am I ment to do to eat then at work I asked she basically told me she can't do anything again and a said am not going then it's gonna affect my health she told me I need to go or else no money what so ever so I'm to be I'll and not do my insulin cos I can't eat is there any help I can get for this xx

Is there any way you could speak to your employer re getting a small advance on your first wages? I was offered this as a matter of course with my employer, but this was many years ago.

Go to your local citizens advice and explain the situation. They can issue you with vouchers for the local food bank. I know its not an ideal solution but it will help abit. Sue xx

I actually asked about a food bank and they told me it's now not opened until next Monday wich is no use when I have nothing for a week and have no clue how I would get there as it's 9-7 work day a just can't believe they want you to find work but give you no help what so ever

I'm sure they are meant to tell you about a 'hardship' fund. If you can get to or phone a citizens advice line they should be able to help you. Email your MP too.
