Hi
Today, early evening I felt pain in my left eye, the outer side. It's quiet blood shot too, when I move my eye or head, it does hurt. At lunchtime my BS was high, 13.4, this is very unusual, as I took Insulin this morning. When I had lunch I took a correction as well as my usual dose and then in the afternoon, it's still high ( about 3 pm) so I removed the used Insulin and put in a new vial, at dinner BS was 6.3. I feel fine in myself, no head ache and It's also the weekend.:(

Hi RRB
not to worry you but I would get to your optometrist for a check .
I have been advised by my opthalmology dept at hospital that if ever I have pain in my eye to phone them and they will fit me in as soon as.
hope you feeling right as rain quick

You could try calling NHS direct and see if they have any suggestions. These things always seem to happen on the weekend, don't they? Hope you eye feels better soon.

I'd get to the doctors or A&E as soon as possible. It might simply be a burst blood vessel which can hurt a bit, or it could be conjunctivitis, or even worse iritis which definitely will need fairly urgent treatment. But both will require medication/eye drops for clear them. Eyes are too precious to risk.

Fingers crosses, Robbity

Thanks guys for your helpful replies X
Pain subsided, but woke up with gunky eyes, that's both , but the left one is the worse, So heading off to pharmacy so someone can have a look, was going to go out for the day as well :( Could be conjunctivitis, but the pain last night, doesn't seem to be a symptom.
Thanks again :) and I will let you know how I get on.

hi, I managed to get an appointment at an opticians today ( Vision express)
Comments:- Appears to have conjuctivitis in the left eye and possible eyelash or hair buried in the temporal conjunctiva. To use optrex for infected eyes in left eye only and return on Monday to see if this resolves or attend A&E if it gets worse over the weekend. Drops every 2 waking hours for 48 hours, so hoping this should do the trick. Thanks everyone.

That's a relief - having suffered for years from chronic iritis I was rather worried for you. Try to avoid any cross contamination from your poorly eye, as conjunctivitis can be "contageous".

Fingers crossed the drops work x

What a shame you missed your day out but more important you got treatment for your eye. It's a very irritating condition and I hope it soon clears for you.
I have suffered from conjunctivitis since being a baby and it's not a lot of fun having sticky eyes in the morning, I swear the stickyness tugs lashes out and drops them into my eye, I always seem to have a stray in there. Whatever you do try not to rub your eye, take care
