Hi there,
I have recently been diagnosed and waiting for results as to whether it is type 1 or 2, insulin controlled with metformin 3 times a day.
Before diagnosis I lost weight rapidly and was drinking more which prompted a visit to the Gp. Apart from this I thought I felt fine. However since the beginning of the year and being put on medication I find it difficult to sleep through the night due to shooting pains in my feet, cold feet which feel like blocks of ice even though to the touch they aren't. I did also get leg cramps which have more or less gone now but have been replaced by extremely sore skin from my belly down. My skin is so sore that any speed bump or pot hole on the road hurts me when driving. It is really upsetting me as sometimes I am in so much pain I feel like stopping all the drugs but I know in my head that this just isn't an option.
My bs fluctuate anything between 8 and 15 on a good day but I guess it can take time to settle and I don't expect miracles overnight. Before diagnosis my fasting levels were 28 so they have improved vastly
Why do I feel so poorly now I am taking the medication when prior to diagnosis I felt so well? And will these symptoms disappear?
It is all such a mind field out there xx

Hi
I'm newly diagnosed too but as yet have not had too many side effects from drugs.
If your skin is that sore then u should see your Dr . I hope you manage to solve your problems. You will get lots of support and good advice on this forum.
Good luck !

you shouldn't have to put up with side effects like that, go back and see the Dr, there are lots of pills and injectables for the dr to choose from
