Hi all, I think I'm coming down with my first cold since diagnosed (not bad for 18 months!) just wondered if you have any recommended medicines as I presume lots of the throat sweets/drinks are full of sugar? TIA

I was once told that since there is no cure for the common cold then the best thing you can do is to treat the symptom that you hate most to make it more bearable. In my case I hate the blocked/runny nose so I take an antihistamine pill each day until the cold is better. I suppose that if I had a sore throat then I would gargle with saline or a mouthwash although I admit that the throat is not something that bothers me.

Aspirin for temperature.

There are suitable cold products for people with diabetes, just ask in the pharmacy. Personally I just try and persevere and only take paracetamol if needed.

Nice malt whisky. makes you feel instantly better.
Olbas oil is a brilliant decongestant.
