Any advice for mum please.
HB1ac is 60, She’s a vegetarian 77 year old Asian lady with limited mobility.
She currently takes 10u of lantus in the morning with 2 metformins.
Her after meal spikes are going to 18/19, as most of her diet in carbs being Asian.

Thinking of starting novarapid for lunch, which sort the spike out at lunch time. But if she takes novarapid at dinner, she goes hypo at night.

Any advice please to stop the hypos?

Thks

Sounds like her dose needs some adjusting. She'll need to contact her diabetes nurse or doctor to talk about that, we can't give dosing advice on here.

Good luck!

Yes looks like doctor may need to adjust dose, but diet needs adjusting too! Replace breads and white rice with pulses, beans and brown basmati rice (small portions). Meat and vegetable dishes should be fine unless some extra type of carb is being added. Avoid the sweet puddings. If she keeps taking more and more insulin, she will just put on weight. It can't healthily be done by drugs alone

@rajg007 says mum is vegetarian and is asking for advice to stop the hypos. At 77 with a not terrible HbA1C of 60 and having eaten high carb food for all her life, I fail to see how your dietary advice is relevant to her situation.
