Hi, I've been posting as a newly initiated tester due to sudden increase in BS - one thing I am finding is my 4- 5 O'clock ish - pre dinner checks are spiking around 18 at times - I know it's not my lunch so not sure why? My daughter - non diabetic - suggested I may need snack - any thoughts please?

What are you 2 hours or so after lunch, and what time did you have lunch? What have you done or eaten or drunk in the meantime?

What you don't need is a snack.

Breakfast wholewheat mini that's with milk. Lunch usually cucumber, tomatoes and some kind of protein - cold ham or smoked salmon etc. Just checked again - reading at 20 - but I have just finished exercising which could spike BS. But doesn't usually. Have to say I feel really hungry when this happens. Drinking water to try to lower BS - this is a bit crazy. I've got fasting sugars down from high teens to around 11 or 12 - not great but improved. This has all happened since I quit cigs last Sept. BS stable since 2007 around 6-7 - just zoomed up by last Dec! Seeing Diabetic GP tomorrow - I could scream . On plus side my retinopathy results are clear.
