Yesterday decided to have a lamb stew with dumplings one of my favourite meals but my BG shot up still up this morning so was it the dumplings split peas and pearl barley.I really cut the amount I ate down but it is a no no in future.

I'd imagine it was the dumpling(s). Suet is a bit carby - maybe 20g per dumpling, depending of course on how big they were.
 
Proper suet (beef fat) shouldn't have any carbs.. Atora does because it has flour added. If the dumplings were flour based too then they wouldn't have been good no matter how small the portion. In your shoes I would have just eaten the lamb.
 
The dumplings arent such a big problem as there are ways to make low carb dumplings - The barley is harder I would think
If I fancied stew and dumplings, Id look for a recipe online that appoximates to what I fancy and work from there.

Branston pickle in a stew I am so offended by that.

@Motherhen2014 sounds like it was a combination of eveything I assume you had mushrooms, onions and carrots in the stew to give it flavour, all add a little to the total carb content.
 
Thank you so much for your replies. I will give it a go sometime this low carb one but not yet.Getting back on my nutty bars.
