Have you been taught to count carbs for your insulin doses?
What kind of insulin regimen are you on?
What had you eaten to spike so high? How much insulin did you take with the meal?
Were you told to eat a specific amount of carbs per meal? I don't know much about mixed insulin and nothing about actos but I have read many times that with mixed insulin you need to eat the same amount of carbs and eat at regualr consistant times for each meal. Maybe start a new thread on mixed insulin to get more responses?
Hi. If you are a T1 you should really be on the Basal/Bolus (MDI) regime for best control. This means two insulins and the Bolus which is used for meals is adjusted for the carbs in that meal. I guess you may be in the USA and perhaps insulin cost is a factor or the number of daily injections? If neither of these is a problem do discuss changing to Basal/Bolus with your physician. 210mg/dl (11.7 mmol) isn't very high so I wouldn't worry too much about spikes that high but do try to reduce them if you can. Yes your kidney may start dumping glucose at that level.
