Against my rules but used root vegetables to make stew for this special day
Entered the ingredients to find nutritional value and though calculated at 31.6 carbs per serve I sinned and had it for tea last night and again for lunch today

Last evening at 5.20pm I was 4.9 and at 8 pm - after the stew - 6.9

Before lunch today I was 5.8 at 12.20pm and after Irish Stew and. A salada biscuit and two slices of cheese I am 5.2

I expected that the rush of carbs would push my BG up but it went down

Would value your assessment of this situation

Kind regards

Peter

Sometimes we just get rogue readings. Sometimes we miss the peak of the spike due to the fats in a meal.
I suggest that if you have this meal again you test pre prandial as usual then at 1 hour, 2 hours and 2 and a half hours to make sure where the peak is and how long it takes for your bg to come down to your pre prandial reading or thereabouts.
I test the same meal at least three times before putting it on the acceptable list. Hope this helps.

Edited to add. Remember that activity levels will also make a difference to readings so if one of your meals was followed by e.g a half hour of dog walking this would affect the post prandial readi g.

It’s also St Gertrude’s Day - the patron saint of cats and cat lovers :cat:
