Starting insulin

I an not starting insulin at present, but I wondered how long the period of time was between diagnosis and starting insulin for Type 2 forum members.

I an not starting insulin at present, but I wondered how long the period of time was between diagnosis and starting insulin for Type 2 forum members.

I'm rather hoping it'll be never for me.

Clearly much depends on the reason the individual has become diabetic, but I would suggest that for most people, with remaining pancreatic function, and a good reduced carb diet, the prospect of insulin should be quite distant, if ever.

There are no specific times, some type 2s never need insulin, so don't worry until it happens (if it ever does)
