Starting IVF today - any advice on managing sugars?

Hi, I think I’ve been putting off posting this as it means admitting to myself I’m doing it..... absolutely dreading IVF, feel so sick and anxious.....
Anyway! Can anyone who has done IVF say which drugs made sugars go up and down and by how much? Fertility Drs don’t think they’ll have much impact hahahahaha! My monthly cycle alone needs different basals! My HBA1Cs been in range for 2 years (I feel like an exhausted scarecrow) so would like to keep it that way.
Fighting the urge to run to the hills! Thanks all xxx

I haven’t experienced ivf but I have experienced pregnancy. It may be worth speaking to your diabetes doctor about any known experiences of ivf with diabetes they have and I’m sure there may be first hands account if you google some mums forums and blogs on the internet.

pregnancy usually results in needing more insulin, and I find now ovulation sends my sugars a bit higher. So I imagine the hormone therapy during ivf may do the same or do the complete opposite. We are all different and our body’s react in different ways. I hope you find some answers x

Some hospitals also have a diabetes specialised obgyn, they have literally seen it all so it may be worth asking if you can speak to one regarding ivf and what they know to help your queries xx

here is an article on beyondtype1 I found. https://beyondtype1.org/ivf-and-type-1-a-new-journey-begins/

I didn't go through Ivf but my hospital had pre conception clinics to make sure we were tip top before trying to conceive if you contact your dsn they should be able to assist. All the best with the Ivf.

Good luck and well done on keeping sugars in range. I think you have done the very best that you can to help you get pregnant and to have a healthy baby.
I don't know what drugs you are going to take but check side effects of ovulation drugs etc. such as stomach upset as I guess those ones may lead to low sugars or changes in your routine. Hopefully you have a freestyle libre to keep an easy eye on things? Note that if you do get pregnant then you may well get hypos or hypers (I did ) and will of course be very aware of all the dire warnings from the healthcare team. Yet a pregnancy is still a fantastic miracle for any woman IMO and I hope you can get to enjoy the process amidst all the worry of a medicalised pregnancy.
