Hi! Well I am just wondering how to start a lower carb diet. . I am a type 1 diabetic and I have previously posted in the type 1 forum and got loads of help and advice about my high sugar levels. I am looking into this and am wondering how to start. I want to make changes gradually, and really don't know what sort of foods to eat? Also will I need to adjust my basal in advance to eating less carbs? I have kept a diary and I tend to have about 200-250g carbs a day currently.

Any help would be appreciated!

I would reduce carbs gradually , this will avoid potential hypo's and you can adjust basal/bolus accordingly. As for food choices, just reduce potato, bread, rice and pasta and eat more fish, meat, cheese, eggs, veg etc. Test regularly and keep recording levels etc. Good luck.
