Starting off with a pump

My hospital do not give pumps to patients that have had dka... As the risk of dka according to them is greater on a pump. The reasoning that hypo's are more of a hinderence to life and living normally. DKA.has been known due to non adhering to rules or illness.
I think you are very lucky to get one due to dka's. My hospital definitely would not entertain the idea of a pump for you.

Loving life

Hey Aimee I've been on my pump since January and I love it, had diabetes 25 years but not great control, was lucky that the diabetes team at my local hospital are generous with handing out pumps, not done a DAFNE course myself, I wasn't able to get to one so did my own research there's a brilliant app I use and as long as you know how many carbs your having your pump works out your dose for you. Can't imagine life without it now xx
