Statin drugs cause liver damage says UK study

A retrospective subanalysis of data from JUPITER (Justification for the Use of Statins in Prevention: An Intervention Trial Evaluating Rosuvastatin) showed that patients 70 years and older given rosuvastatin (Crestor—AstraZeneca) 20 mg/d for primary prevention had a 39% reduction in major cardiovascular events over a 2-year period compared with placebo; no differences in mortality were seen between groups.

And not taking them can cause heart disease to occur :cry:
These are the choices we have to make and worrying over them only makes things worse :?
 
Dunno where all this will end up... our relatives suing the pharms for their neglect etc?

Is there any info free from bias?

These contrary studies do not help us persons in the street... the GPs stress the merits but surely they must read these papers? 8)
