I have very high cholesterol and so have pressure about taking meds to reduce. Because of my liver reaction and my gut issues I have just come off ezetimibe with reluctant agreement from my DN. I'm down for a liver function check again in a few months and after nearly two weeks now off the lipid lowering meds my gut is recovering so hope my liver is too! I had a full heart health check four years ago as part of a medical heart study a day of what felt like every heart test possible and including a calcium score - this showed zero calcification and all tests came out all good 're my heart at that time. This influences my decision 're taking the meds as it's all about your personal risks, individual side effects and benefits. I will be looking around to see if I can get a CAC test again soon to see if my continuing high cholesterol is causing me any heart health issues before I would even consider taking meds again. But it's a personal decision and based on as much information about my risks as I can gather.
