hello.

11 years in and I'm still gamely stabbing my fingers, pushing needles in and so on.

Listen, my diabetes nurse said yesterday that some diabetics with terrible blood sugar control go 40 years with no complications. Some obsessive 4.8ers do 2 years on the needle then start to shed feet, eyes, kidneys.... I understand about large scale effect studies, I know about odds, can anyone point me at some good studies to give me the numbers?

At the moment I'm trying really really hard to get good bloods rather than raspberry syrup/sugar free Ribena swings. Is it worth it? Should I trust to luck?

Give me stats.

Please, you diabetics you.

Hi,

i have no stats for you but i'm posting to bump your post up so the expert peeps can assist,

but i do think the stats will always tell you that well controlled, not high and not aiming for the 4's will produce the best results.

some people may have lasted years without complications whilst having terrible control, but i think thats thesame luck as winning the lottery!

i wouldn't test my luck with either one and stick with the majority :)
