Steroid induced diabetes

Hi I would appreciate any advice

I recently have been diagnosed with the above - my hba1c is 81
Prescription for 500mg metformin 2 x day

Blood sugars reduced from 27 to 24. However tonight meter was reading Hi twice so I drink more water and did it again 1/3 hour later and now it is 32.4

Should I be concerned and should I do anything before Monday? I am so thirsty but as soon as water is drunk it is waiting to leave at the other end of the station!!!

I know the basics as have been a member on here because of hubbys diabetes (type 2)
But this is all a new game for me and I don’t think his sugars have ever been this high not that it’s a competition I want to win.

I am now on Metformin and gliclazide but the last two days my sugars have been 5.6 and this morning 4.1. I have reduced the steroids by taper and now am on 15mg so wonder if now need to start reducing the diabetes meds I.E the gliclazide as I feel very shaky this morning x

Please contact your doctor or nurse about this.
We cannot give advice on how to adjust meds, but gliclazide is a medication that can cause hypos, and 4.1 is pretty close to the hypo zone.

Please always carry your meter and something sweet in case you do go too low.
