Hi
I have type 2 diabetes which was controlled by diet until I contracted another autoimmune disease. I had to take high doses of steroids 60mg a day and this sent my sugar levels berserk and I now have to take insulin 4 times a day. After 2 years I am now down to 5mg a day steroids, but my sugar levels have not dropped and I still need the insulin. Has anybody else had the same problem with steroids and if they have, when you came off them did your sugar levels go back down.

I have an autoimmune disease for which I have been taking steroids for over ten years now this is what caused my diabetes,I am now down to 10 mg a day.

I have however by some what extreme measures reduced my BG levels to more normal levels. That is low carb and restricted calories

As I have no prospect of coming of them completely I can't say whether your levels would drop back to lower levels or not if you stop taking them. at a guess I would think they may well do so but not sure.
