I wouldn't rule it out entirely but it's not the most obvious cause. Any neuropathy in your lower body is surely going to make itself felt in your feet first. It could be that you do have some problems in your feet and that these cause you to walk with a different gait. This happened to me, but with osteoarthritis rather than diabetes. I basically ended up walking slightly differently and using muscles that I wasn't used to using. They complained by stiffening up and acheing. But, as the doc said, it'll 'walk off'. If you are carrying too much weight, try losing some. Excess weight will stress all the parts that you mention.
