Thursday afternoon I started with non stop diareah followed by constant throwing up. I couldint keep any liquids down me. Thursday night I decied to go into AnE my blood sugars were high my keytones were high I did some insulin to try and get them down which did work. But the reason I checked into the hospital was because I was dehydrated they did a line I had a bag of sodium chloride and a antsickness injection. They also took bloods, they came back fine, so they decied to send me home. I felt a lot better Friday afternoon, I had some toast and lucozade sports. I've woken up this morning wih direah no sickness but I've been to the toilet more than enough times to think what the hell is going on.

I would really appreciate any advice what to take, I was thinking Diorlyte is that ok to take?

Hi Damonite and welcome.

From my own personal experience what you have described in your post is a result of extremely high blood glucose.

I was admitted to hospital 12 years ago after suffering chronic vomiting and stomach pain and diarrhoea. I ended up in a diabetic coma and was rushed to hospital. I too was extremely dehydrated and put on drips and all sorts of things. I was also given anti coagulant injections as my blood glucose was so high it was like treacle!

The fact that you stated it happened again after having lucozade sport seems to confirm that. Lucozade is full of glucose and is good for bringing you out of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) but if you drink it as a regular beverage you will be ill and putting yourself at risk of DKA (diabetic coma)

Insulin or tablets they will not allow you to eat and drink sugary foods and beverages. It is just a treatment and we need to stick to a healthy diet as well as taking our medication.

I have been there D and it is really scary. You will get more people coming along soon who will give you a little more advice on carbs and nutrition.

3 things for successful treatment of diabetes are simply,

Stay away from sugary foods, take medication as advised and keep active. Important to do all 3 in conjunction with each other.

Good luck D
