my husband has a stomach bug (he has a colostomy bag). For the past couple of weeks his BG has been very unstable and he had 2 hypos in 3 days. Anyway I expected, his BS to drop, overnight as he was not eating but in fact it went up, is this normal?

Don't fully understand the mechanics, but I have it on good authority that illness generally raises ones BG levels.

Yes, my BG level always goes up if I've got something wrong with me - even a slight cold can do it.

When I was first diagnosed and my BG was very high I caught every bug going one of which was that winter vomiting bug. My BG stayed in the mid 20s despite not eating at all for six days. On the day I started to feel a bit better I noticed my BG had dropped in to the mid teens over night.
