I also felt excessively sick wanting to vomit and could not .. also feeling sick just at the smell of food ... its meant to pass as you get used to the tablets.
A lot of people here I think have changed to the slow release metformin and it seems to be less painful, but you need to talk to your Dr about that, as well as the stomach problem you are having now.
Edit to add .. If you are T2 (you have not said in your info) then you may be able to reduce your blood sugars with diet and not need the metformin ..
I have no side effects anymore, except maybe to have to go to the toilet 2-3 time each night.. which started when I was put on metformin... but metformin is known to cause bloated stomach... I had that the first 2 weeks, then it disapered...how long have you been on metformin ?
if your sugar isn´t under control like almost normal the raised sugars can in worst cases affect stomach nerves as well like some are hit by neuropathy, one can get these problems all over in ones body...
Hi,
I suggest you go back to your GP and get it checked out to be on the safe side. It could be the Metformin if they say it's probable then ask to go on the slow release tablets, changing worked for me.
Good luck
