I want to start getting blood samples other then my fingers
How do you get the blood sample? I am used to using my fingers and squeezing them to get the sample of blood, but how do you get the blood when using your arm of stomach? squeezing doesn't work.
thx

Hi @TwoFeathers ,

Welcome to the forum!

I'm a finger man myself... But there was a mention of someone using toes a long while back??

My Accu-Chek Performa came with a attachment for the Multiclix lancing device that allowed lancing in other parts of your body other than your fingers / thumbs.

I have never used it though.

I got this from the Multiclix faqs, which may be of use to the OP. I have bolded the text where the alternate sites are.

How do I run a blood glucose test on a non-fingertip testing site?

Before you decide to use blood from alternative sites, consult your healthcare professional.

You can obtain capillary blood for blood glucose testing not only from the fingertips, but also from other sites (palm, forearm, upper arm, calf or thigh), so-called alternative site testing (abbreviated as: AST). To be able to obtain capillary blood from other sites, you have to replace the regular cap by a special cap, the Accu-ChekMulticlix AST cap. Consult your healthcare professional beforehand if you want to use blood from alternative sites for your blood glucose test. Please follow the instructions of use of the AST Cap insert.
