I have had type 2 diabetes for 4 years following loss of weight and a glucose reading of 17, and prescribed Metformin (4 per day). and 3 mg Glimepiride 1 per day.
My glucose readings have been consistently 5-6 and Hbna ok.
At my last visit ( a month ago) to the Diabetic Nurse, who, I have to say, has always been very supportive and thorough, recommended I stop taking the Glimepiride as this can cause damage to the liver and to come back in 3 months time for a check up.
I checked my glucoselevels and they are now between 8 -10.
Has anyone had this experience and is this just a adjustment to the condition which will level out if the pancreas kicks in again
