Strange blood sugar pattern within 1 hour.Please help

Hi I'm newly diagnosed with t2 my first A1C was 8% and second one 4.8 after going for low carb and exercise .I was surprised with last A1C result as I was checking blood sugars usually after food.fasting or before food and my average readings were 6.0
Only recently i have checked blood sugar every few minutes for about an hour before food just to discover constant pattern of my blood sugars .Within minutes it can be as low as 3.6 next minute 6.4 and 20 min later again goes up and down all day even if no food is involved. So within 1 h I can have 2 very low readings and 2 high
I don't think it's normal pattern but I can be wrong
Any advice please

15:40 3.8
15:45 4.4
15:49 4.8
16:00 5.3
16:15 6.4
16:30 5.0
16:45 3.9
17:00 4.2
17:30 6.4 etc all day long no food involved no activity. No meds

To be honest a lot of the differences in those readings could just be "noise" on your meter. They are not amazingly accurate (as anyone who has taken 2 readings from the same spot of blood with attest) and may vary by as much as 15% and still pass all the required tests.
How long was it between your 2 HbA1c tests?
 
Hi thanks for reply I have checked with 2 different meters countur next one and gluco rx and appears to be same pattern all day long but it gets steady overnight.
I was diagnosed 3 month ago with a1c 8% and fasting reading 18.Went strait for low carb read Berstins book diabetes 101 and many others
Have lost 30 pounds in 2 month yesterday I had my second a1c as 4.8 which I think is too low. Looks like I'm having hypo resdings even few times within the hour with not knowinh hence a 1c is that low
I'm 37 years old
 
If you're not taking meds then your high 3's are fine. I have only got down there when on an extended fast but my meter does read higher. My last 4 HbA1c's have been at the same level as yours so I think you are doing great assuming your tag is correct and you are Type 2. Why do you think you are too low?
 
Just Wasn't expecting it so low after checking with meter for up to 15 times a day I was hoping for 6
My only worry is that my sugar swings constantly within short period of time.Coudnt find anything similar at Google
 
Hi,
The two lowest readings are 3.7 and 3.9.
Most doctors, specialists, even dsns would not regard those readings as a hypoglycaemia episode.
Normal blood glucose levels are between 3.5 and 6.0mmols.

With the discrepancy in glucometer readings that can vary by a few mmols!
I would not worry too much about those readings, they seem very good.

However, we are all different and get symptoms of a hypo either higher or lower the levels I have said.


If you start going lower than 3.5, I would take appropriate action to get back to normal levels. And that is an individual thing as well.
You have to find what is best for you.

You seem to be doing really well on how you are treating your diabetes.

Why do you think they are swings? Which numbers are concerning you the most? Libre sensor wearers will tell you this is normal. Almost anything can cause a small bump such as the one you had at 16.15 (even something as simple as a full bladder or the late digestion of something from your previous meal). They are all normal readings. You are highly unlikely to hypo when not on meds - no more risk than any healthy non-diabetic. Your liver will look after you, and clearly is doing.

Indeed...but what you can take from this is that you are managing your condition exceptionally well and having great results. You've got your HbA1c to non-diabetic levels really fast so now it's more a matter of maintenance.

The diagnostic level for hypoglycemia with diabetes is anything below 3.9 mmol/L
