Hi and many thanks. I don't routinely test as I'm apparently not eligible for Strips etcPossibly but unlikely as you are not on diabetic drugs. Our livers tend to look after us if our bodies think we are going too low and need extra glucose by sending glucose into the blood stream.
Did you take any action when you felt unwell? Did you test? Only testing will give you the answer.
Cheers for the adviceIf you're diet-controlled, it's unlikely to be a hypo. Next time, test your blood sugar to be sure, and if the feelings persist maybe see your doctor for a general checkover to put your mind at rest.
Perhaps a small snack mid-morning would help? Make sure you're hydrated too.
Thanks for the advicePossibly. Without having tested your BG level, it would be impossible to say for definite.
ThanksIf you're not on any medication it's unlikely it was a hypo. Being diabetic doesn't make you prone to hypoglycaemia, the medication used to treat diabetes does. Diabetes is a condition of high blood sugar, not low.
Perhaps you were hungry, or dehydrated, or over tired. If you didn't test your blood sugar when you were feeling detached you're never going to know if that feeling was blood sugar related.
The symptoms you described don't especially sound like traditional hypo symptoms.
I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes three years ago. Since then I gave managed to keep my Blood Sugar Levels constantly just above borderline and well below NHS targets therefore not on Medication and Diet controlled.
Today, I had a very early breakfast of Porridge at 5:30 am and around Midday I experienced a very odd 'detached' feeling. As I hadn't had any food due to working up till this time, I wondered if this detached feeling and not quite feeling that things were real Us a symptom of a Hypo attack ? Seem to recall a very similar incident a few months back so probably now only ever happened twice. Apologies to be so vague but would be grateful for any advice. Thank you
ThanksMany people here who are type 2 do not get meters or strips on prescription so we self fund and test regularly how else are you to know what your BG levels are like on a day to day basis.
As has been said normally T2's not on glucose lowering meds do not experience hypos but it is not impossible I have done so myself on at least three occasions.
Talk to your doctor as there are other things that may have caused your episode.
Hi and thanks. Not stressed at all at present but left a very stressful job about 7 years agoHi,
I too seriously doubt it was hypoglycaemia.. Not even your symptom description rings any bells.
However....
Can I ask if you are experiencing any stress of late...?
Hi and thanks. Not stressed at all at present but left a very stressful job about 7 years ago
Thanks for the adviceGood news..
Get a meter check when you get up before eating & about 2 hours after the meal, then before bed..
You will be so glad you did.
You may see patterns.. Especially if you have another "episode" like you have...
Get checked out by your doc.!
