Greeting folks,

This morning when getting up out of bed at 5.20am to visit the toilet I felt quite dizzy...thought nothing of it and went back to bed and promptly fell asleep and then felt dizzy again when waking at 6.30am for the day. Felt lightheaded really, this went away after a little while.

Am feeling a little worried about this episode and wonder if anybody else ever experiences this. Have had benign positional vertigo at different times over the years but this was not vertigo. Apart from the T2 that I have I am quite well and only 44 years old.

Is this a thing us diabetics experience from time to time???

Help

Hi,SandrafromOZ.

Did you mean 6 30am.
I would contact your doctor with this issue.
They will have knowledge regarding your health and will advice accordingly.I would "nip this in the bud "as they say.

This NHS sympton checker thing may be of use if not a pain in the neck.:http://www.nhs.uk/nhsdirect/pages/symptoms.aspx?sat=DizzinessAndLightheadedness.

Best of luck
Roy. :)

Hi Roy,

Yes it was 6.30am this morning, sadly had to get up for work.

I will get this checked with my GP as I have to see him in a week or so for Hbac1 test. Just wondering if anyone else had experienced this.

Thank you

I do, but mine are due to one of my cardiac problems, and nothing to do with my diabetes.
As Izzzi says, best to get it checked by your GP.

Yes, I have the same problem. It can be caused by Diabetic damage to nerves controlling the 'non-return valves' in your blood system ( this is how it has been explained to me ). If this is the cause, there is no actual fix at the moment. The way to deal with it is by management: when I wake to go to the Loo early in the morning, I sit on the side of the bed until the lightheadedness goes, then I can stand safely. The same problem can happen if you jump up, after sitting for a long period. I strongly suggest you take care; before it was explained to me I used to blackout, crash to the floor, and be unconscious for a few minutes. This is not a good experience for carers as well as for you, believe me!
Good Luck, Wizzco
