CAN STRESS GIVE A FALSE POSITIVE DIABETES II DIAGNOSIS!!!
Hi all, I'm Jim. I'm 50 and have never experience anything like the horrors I have been through in the last 4 years. I hope to describe them in the coming weeks.
I have been struggling with the Manchester NHS and my general health for 4 years. It all started in Feb 2008 after I went to A&E for fast heart beat. This was simply dismissed as unimportant stress!!! In Feb 2009, in addition to the rapid heartbeat, I was diagnosed diabetic II; 13.7 random 13.5 fasting, hba1c 10.5.
I insisted on seeing a specialist, I was instructed to "take THE medication, it will be impossible for you to control your BSs with diet alone". After about three months, without medication, I lost a lot of weight. and my hba1c returned to normal, and has been normal sinse that day, as of Nov 2011 it was 5.2. After constant pressure from me, the specialist then said i had been misdiagnosed. I HAD NOT. I remonstrated with his comment that my Gp had misdiagnosed me .... he said i ... "should be pleased i might have cured myself". had I been stronger i would have sued him
Having done a few years of internet research I think I have the answer. If I supply the symptoms I wonder if you smart folk will come to a similar conclusion. I hope so.
During each of February 2008, Feb 2009 and Feb 2010, I started a new course toward a law degree. Each of these months i experience tachycardia (very rapid heartbeat and increased anxiety each resulting in a A&E visit) each time I was utterly dismissed. in Feb 2009 this was associated with swelling in the feet, rapid onset abdominal weight gain, fat pads on the side of the cheeks (devloping a round face), red stretch marks on lower part of abdomen, bruises and thin skin on the forearm. i was worried and went for a blood test resulting in... diabetes II diagnosis. This made no sense to me . I decided not to take the meds. Within a few months the fat dropped away, additionally the other symptoms abated but have left their marks. Also the hba1c has to this day remained normal....
Please be assured. I am an ordinary patient caught up in a nightmare. I am simply trying to understand this condition. I think I know the condition that caused these symptoms. one of which is HYPERGLYCEMIA...high sugars!!
Any ideas
