Stress at work

Just gone back to teaching in further education and noticed my average BG has gone up - from 5.8 to 6.4. I'm still low carbing, eating hasn't changed. Am more active on teaching days. I guess the stress may decrease a bit once I'm more used to the job (we had Ofsted in last week) but wondering if anyone's got any suggestions for controlling the BG reactions. I get up at 5.30 or 6 and from then on until 9am my BG rockets... And then stays around 6 or 7 till 13.00 ish.

Enough to stress anyone. I saw a diabetic specialist on Tuesday, first time in 20 years, and she recommended Mindfulness courses and something called Headspace. Both can be done at home and Googling will produce several websites with further information and even videos, seems Ruby Wax does videos, she a keen advocate because of her depression.

Personally, I'm going back to doing Tai Chi, it worked wonders for me when I did it, until the hall was closed.

Actually its funny that you mentioned tai Chi - I used to do qi gong, the exercises part of it when I was teaching full time and working 70 hours a week. I remember organising a student foreign exchange and the 20 minutes tai Chi was the only thing that got me through! Will try it again. And the headspace idea too. X

I always found it amazing that such gentle exercise made me break into a sweat and I'm sure that concentrating on the moves emptied my head of all the stresses of the day. I'm actively looking at classes in my area.
