Struggling sugar control

Type of diabetes
Don't have diabetes
I have been diagnosed for about two years and have done pretty much everything my doctors have said. I have lost 48 kilos though I dont exercise too much only taking the dog for a walk.
My question is no matter what I do whether i am extra good or slightly bad my sugar levels go up and down alot. I take metformin twice a day rapid insulin before food and tourjeo insulin at night and trulicity once a week. My husband is on the same medication but is a terrible diabetic but seems to have more control with his sugar numbers. Its took over my life . I'm at my wits end understanding the whole thing. I have another appointment to get my results of my c-peptide test in 5 days. Anyone have some suggestions

I'm assuming that you were diagnosed with T2. If so, you have moved onto insulin very quickly. My advice would have been to get a cpeptide test, so am happy to think your doctor is considering all the options.

Congrats on losing all that weight, which will definitely help whatever type of diabetes you have. That is a massive achievement.

If you have T2 then it may help if you try a lower carb diet. If you have T1/LADA (probably why they've done the cpeptide test) then they will probably get rid of the T2 meds and concentrate on controlling your condition with insulin.

How much do your blood sugar levels vary?

Good luck.

Hello and welcome,

I am assuming you have been diagnosed with diabetes. What sort of food do you eat? What counts as a 'good' day and what as a 'bad'?

I feel your despair. I've have type 1 diabetes for 9 years. Always had poor control. now have complications so I'm trying extra hard to bring my hba1c down. Experiencing lots more hypos. Lost all awareness to my hypos. If it's not stupidly low it's too high. I have read lots of useful advice on this site but nothing I try helps. Should just accept my fate I guess.
