Hi just after some advice, I've been type 2 for years and mainly controlled by diet and metformin , now I'm on glimepiride as my HBA1C was so high . I have tried just the low carb and metformin for last few months amd still high 12s so started taking the gli , starting on 1mg amd it goes from 13.5 in a.monrning to 4.7 a few hours after , it rises back up to 10s in the day time what I want to know is when I increase my gli as I have to increase every 2 week till I get to 4mg is it gping to go even lower , this is what is scaring me about taking this drug as I don't want to increase the dose if its gping to go lower , I just don't know how this works . Thanks in advance

It's almost too over-simplifying to be any real use, but you can think of metformin as being a passive drug where glimepiride is an active drug. The point being that you will see a more significant reduction in blood sugars for the period where the drug has max effect.

If you are monitoring then at least you have insight as to what is actually going on, and although it seems alarming - 4.7 isn't necessarily low (though it may feel like it for you if your body is used to 10 - your body will be fighting to get to whatever it thinks of as "normal"). Pay attention to the trend arrow and how you are feeling.

A small amount of carbs will bring those numbers up if you feel you need to - but dipping down to that level as long as it isn't a plunge... The stress of worrying about it may be a worse effect than anything going on because of it.
Talk it through with your team or GP - nobody should feel scared of the meds they are taking; make sure that you have your goals and intentions listened to.
