my daytime readings ppl and or random are normal...but I can be 4.8 in late afternoon before dinner and 6 after dinner and then 5/6 at bedtime...then...wakeup with between 7 and 8. today was 8.3....and i started to cry....I eat very low carb and fat...and exercise and am very frustrated. I am not on medication...I have lost weight but not what i think i should have considering i barely eat. I have no symptoms. I have tried many bedtime ideas...vinegar, cinnamon, peanut butter, boiled egg, i/2 yogurt...etc etc..can anyone offer suggestions??
Oh and it was about 7.2 to 7.5 2 weeks ago...so I dont know...I have much stress...could that really be elevating?

Hello worrierfrog, you are doing well, the reason for high bs first thing in morning is called the dawn phenomenon..this is our bodies natural reaction and our liver releases energy ready for the day ahead in the form of glucose , in my case it took nearly 8 months of lchf regime , until my liver had finally released excess stored glucose.clive

I've been having a similar problem so I'll give you a tip somebody else has given me @Worrierfrog - try a protein snack at bedtime. Greek yogurt worked for me last night - 4.9 at bedtime and 5.7 this morning whereas I've been 7s and 8s most mornings even after being around 5 the previous bedtime.

Keep persevering and good luck!
