Hi all

After many months of consistent control in the past couple of days my levels have literally been all over the place: mainly freefalling and leaving me constantly hypo.

I have tried reducing my Lantus (14 units down to 12 a couple days ago, will try dropping to 10 from tonight).

I've also drastically reduced my NovoRapid I:C ratio until this is sorted: had 2.5 units for 50g at lunch and needed a banana a moment ago to fend of yet another oncoming hypo.

No idea what is causing this, do you think it could be the weather getting colder? As strange as that sounds....

Not the weather. Not Global Warming either. Activity level. And you don't take/need a helluva lot of insulin normally, so any change in anything may affect you more than the average person. I probably take twice as much insulin of both types as you.

My activity level hasn't changed from my usual routine in any way, shape or form - although, if anything, it's gone down slightly.

Hey @pinewood, I've noticed similar things happening over the last few days, and the only thing that's really changed is that it's got colder, as you say. This means all the central heating has come on. It may be that as it's colder your body is burning more energy to keep you warm and this means insulin is acting more effectively. It might be that central heating/heating in general makes the environment in total warmer having a similar effect. Either way, it's a bit annoying!

Thanks Tim.

I find it so frustrating not being able to explain why something is happening with my T1D but I guess that's the nature of it! In any event, it's a least nice to know I'm not alone.

Blame it on the Russians and collusion on social media. That's why Trump got elected! And the House and Senate and Mueller are going to investigate this until he runs for President again I bet.

I've also been noticing similar - activity is actually less than last week as I've been back at work the last few days. Going to have to find out what works and what doesn't again - I'm quite sensitive to the insulin too so 0.5 unit too little or much can send me heading the wrong way easily.

It was only 8° outside this morning! :coldfeet:

have you lost weight? Low fat / Hih carb diet dropped my insulin usage from 1 unit per 10g to 1 unit per 30g?
