Sudden rise in blood sugar levels

I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic some years ago. In November last year I changed to a ketogenic diet, and within a short time my fasting blood sugar levels stabilized at an average of 6.7 mmol and my ketone levels averaged 1.60 mmol. In the past four days my blood sugar levels have shown a significant increase, averaging 9.1 mmol while, at the same time, my ketone levels have maintained the average of 1.60 mmol. I am wondering if it is possible to benefit from ketosis while my blood sugar level is above 7.0 mmol. What puzzles me is that my carbohydrate intake has been low (about 15g) throughout this period.
 
What else has changed? Have you been ill, or recently started a new job or exercise programme? Is your weight stable?
Are you checking your carb intake accurately to avoid creep? (I found I was eating slightly more carbs a few months after I stopped measuring everything.)
 
Dear Tricia, thank you for your response. You ask what else has changed. There is nothing in my circumstances that I could describe as a change. My weight since November 2020, when In started on a low carb diet has dropped from 14st 5lb to 13st 5lb. I think I have been pretty strict in measuring my carb intake to no more than 25g per day. I am currently in what looks like a spike in blood sugar readings, and and as I have only just started daily readings I cannot tell whether other spikes have occurred in the past few months. Are such spikes common?

My readings - blood sugar and ketones - from 5th July are as follows:
July 5th 7.6 0.0
6th 7.9 1.40
7th 7.7 1.40
8th 7.4 2.50
9th 6.8 1.05
10th 6.7 0.75
11th 7.0 1.90
12th 9.6 0.0
13th 8.0 2.8
14th 10.8 1.85
15th 7.2 0.80
Average 7.2 1.20

From these readings It looks as though the blood sugar readings place me at the least as pre diabetic. The ketone readings, on the other hand indicate that I am still in ketosis.

I don't know how best to proceed from here. Any suggestions?
