Type 2 Sugar and virus

If I had contracted the virus but recovered. Would it affect my blood sugar levels for a few days of a couple of weeks. The reason I ask is that about four weeks ago I woke up and my breathing way laboured. It settled down after a few hours but I noticed my levels had increased. Usually around 6/7 level to 10/11. They have settled back down now. Another complication I that I suffer from hayfever so that ?? Might have been the problem. Regards Bill Johnstone
