i have been type 2 diabetic for about 11years now,i always carry 2 or 3 stone more than i should be, I have been to both weight watchers and slimming world over the years and I really struggle when people tell you to buy low fat items which everyone knows contains a very large amount of sugar.

Does anyone out there know what type of foods we are supposed to eat that would give me proper control of my blood sugars. It is really difficult when you go shopping to find the correct foods for consumption :D

count calories AND carbs and cut out starches and sugars

that is it in a nutshell

avoid grains/rice/potato/legumes/bread/pasta/flour/cereals/fruit/sugar

only have those if you check by your meter that they do not rise your blood glucose

you can eat the same meals as everyone but leave the starches uneaten

I have lost 42 kilo of really stubborn fat since I changed to low carb diet

on low carb diet use need small servings of fat to give you good bowel movements instead of fibre

the change from previous diet will cause some constipation but it should settle down within a few days

good luck
