Sugar is rising again

I was diagnosed with Type 2 at the end of June. I am on a treatment plan that includes daily doses of Sitagliptin/Metformin, a strict diet and exercise. My sugar was coming down steadily toward acceptable levels until about 3 weeks ago, when it stopped, and then reversed. It is now at again alarmingly high levels.
My GP wants me to start taking insulin, and we will be having a discussion about that in a couple of days. I am not keen on the idea, but don't see any alternative.
Does anyone have any experience with this sort of situation? I sense that my GP is not all that knowledgeable, but I can't see an endocrinologist for the first time until end November. I am becoming quite stressed about all this.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

How high are your sugar levels?
Are you measuring using a meter??
(Second question sounds a bit silly, just accertaining how you monitor BGs.)

I'd got down to between 110 and 160. I'm now never below 200 and often above 250.
And yes, I am using a meter.

I’m sorry to hear of your situation @AlbionW it must be bewildering and frustrating.
What are your typical meals? It might be worth listing the food you eat then the more experienced members could have suggestions to help ;)
