Ok I have been cleaning my kitchen and as some of you know is a killer for me have to stop every so often to sit and lose the pain. Hoovered the whole bungalow, done three loads of washing and drying I am sweating profusely aching and my sugar is up to 8 which is the highest it has been for a while. how is this when I
haven't eaten lunch yet. Did have a small breakfast at 9am. Do I have lunch or not ????

Yes of course. Since you haven't eaten and you have been working your liver is feeding you sugar. You can stop it doing that by eating little and often.

If you've been working hard, I'm thinking that you may well have suffered a stress reaction - this page will explain the issue further.

Hi and welcome!

Exercise and pain can both cause blood glucose to rise, and the more energetic that exercise and pain, the higher the rise may be. What a lot of people don't realise is that 'energetic' means different things for different people. For some it is running a long distance cross country, for others it means getting out of bed in the mornings. :)

Sounds like you have pushed yourself quite hard, so enjoy the sense of achievement.

The good news is that following this exercise (and any rise it causes), blood glucose levels often drift downwards, and stay a bit lower for several hours. But that varies on the person too.

Eating lunch may help bring your blood glucose down again too.

I would have a LCHF lunch and watch what happens to the bg 2 hrs later. Personally I find that after exercise the levels drift down as @Brunneria suggests. Pain can also affect your bg so take it easier this afternoon.

Thank you all I have had a sandwich and will check my sugar level soon. I really get confused with it all only been diagnosed since September 2016 so still very new to me. I will say it sucks lol

My levels always rise after housework, whether I have eaten or not. It is most obvious from my Libre sensor readings. My levels can go up significantly the harder the housework is. Cleaning a lot of large windows is a killer for my BS levels, as is a lot of hoovering or cleaning the non-carpeted floors. Food makes no difference, nor does a drink or a nibble of protein/fat, or even a short sit down.

I now spread my housework out over the week rather than try to do it all at once.

It would be better if I didn't do any at all ........ great excuse. :)
