Hi All,
So I've been diabetic 19 years and been on an insulin pump for the last 6 months. Since being on it everything has been great and I was sitting around my 6.0 mmbol target daily. I had my HBA1C not to long ago and its the lowest I've been since going through puberty so want to keep it that way.
3 weeks ago however I moved from England to work in Cyprus for a few months and I can't seem to get my sugars under 10! Its driving me mad and making me feel ill being in my teens all the time.
Has anyone else experienced this with the weather change? My mum always said that when i went on holiday i would have hypos but now im settled in I seem to be having the opposite effect. I'm waking up around 13 or 14 and sitting around 10 or 11 after eating. I keep doing correctional doses however these barely have time to work as I am then eating my next meal causing my sugars to rise again.
So far i've increased my basal by 20% and still having very little effect... My only other idea is that the insulin is less effective in the heat so changing my infusion and insulin set every other day rather than 3 days however this hasn't really made much of a difference either.
Does anyone have any other advice or if they have experienced this do you have any soluations to help me get back under control!?
Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated
David
