Hi,

Everybody has different ideals of what targets they would like their blood sugar readings to be. this can vary greatly in type 2's on diet and exercise or type 2's on hypo inducing medicines or type 1 & 2's taking insulin.

Personally i aim for between 5-7 as thats what i feel comfortable with. :)

i'd say don't aim for lower than 4.1 as below four is recognised as hypo territory.

but between 4.1 and 5.3 if that's what your comfortable with and it causes you no problems i'm sure your next HBA1C will be very good!! i know some members here have HBA1C's at 5% or slightly below which translates around the targets you describe.

it's all about an individual persons goals and opinion to what they aim for. where as i like to be between 5-7 another might see the 7 mark and think that's too high. it's personal preference really. but well done anyway on having very good levels :)

Does portion control affect bs levels themselves or the weight of the person? Iam a very underweight type 2 trying to put on weight I know it may seem a silly question but if I eat large portions of low carb food will it cause my bs to rise .The portion size doesnt seem to affect testing results although I havent done serious testing for this. I just wondered about long term effect.

the only thing tha doesn't affect BG is Fat
anything else you eat is likely to.
have you tried weigh training?

Hana .Thanks for that, I am a busy granny with no time to go toto the Gym and I think weight training would probably give me a 6 pack not a pretty sight  I have tried some resistance exercises but they dont seem to work .The Calogen that I take is oil and that seems to be working but is slow progress.

A busy granny needs to take time for herself to ensure that she is around for a loooong time and in order to still be busy in the future!! You need to make time for yourself - as they say, "You're worth it!"

Professional help at a gym is worth it's weight in gold - and you will understand the weight pun, Carol! :D
