Hi there
I have a major problem with my bloods levels, in controling them.
I have cut out all the stuff that i really enjoyed, thinking that would help, !! but sadly this has not made any difference.
my levels are around 10/15 which even i know is bad, should be around 7/8 and even that is not great.
i watch what i eat within reason, so what should i do.?
graham.

Hi @grey_dog,

Your profile says that you area Type1.5 but in another post you made you said that you were a Type2?

Have you read the basic information that @daisy1 posts? I have tagged her to give you a copy.

You say that you have altered your eating habits. It might help if you tell us a typical day's menu, your last HBA1c, whether you have any other medical conditions and your age and weight.

Most Type2s will tell you that to gain control then you need to cut down on the amount of carbohydrates that you eat. If you read around the forum you will see that there is no set amount that suits everybody as some need to lower the amount to 20gms whereas others can eat 150 or anything in between.
Rice, pasta, potatoes bread and cereals are the ones we have an individual response to so it may be a case of a smaller portion or cutting that particular one out altogether.
You also need to balance your meal so that you get all the minerals and micronutrients that you need for a healthy body.

There are several threads where people post their daily intake of food so read around and see what others are doing to give you some idea.

Take it steady, it is a marathon as opposed to a sprint and ask any questions that you have.

Hope this helps.

Hi @grey_dog and welcome! Can you give us some more information? What type are you? How long have you been diagnosed and do you take any meds to control your diabetes? I know it sounds like the third degree but your answers will help us try and help you! Sue x
