Hi All

Been on a low carb diet for the last 3 weeks and its been going really well. BS has been between 5-6.5 most of the time but over the last 2 days my sugars seem to be going all over the place. My diets not changed except for Ive added coleslaw to a couple of meals which I didnt think would do much?
Also I checked my sugars last night before bed and it was 6.9, woke up at 7.30 and it was 9.4?
Before lunch today was 6.4 had scrambled egg, italian salad leaves,3 baby tomatoes, coleslaw, cottage cheese and an apple and orange gave myself 6 units novarapid (normal dose) checked at 4pm and my sugars were 12.4!! Whats going on?

Hi Sue

I feel great apart from being annoyed at my readings. Im running 4-5 miles a day, Im losing weight and seeing noticeable improvements. It had crossed my mind about coming down with something but I thought it would have effected my running, but not as yet

Hi Rich,

Coleslaw can often contain carrot, pineapple and/or apple, so if you're eating a large portion
it may need covering with insulin.

Also, If you're using Lantus, it might be worth changing to a new vial. I often find mine can
start loosing strength after as little as 15 days of use.

Regards,
timo.

Thats quite interesting to know. Ill certainly giveit a try. I was taking around 35 units of lantus before going on my low carb diet but I now only take 18 units so the vial is lasting almost twice as long
