Hi Everyone
I just had a message from my GP surgery saying that my Metaformin slow release will be changed to Sukkarto sustained release. No medical reason given for this change. I am D2 and on lchf diet. Does anyone have any experience of this medication?

Yes, it is just a different brand name for Metformin.
If you have a google you will be able to find the manufacturer, and all the patient information, so you can check your old medication against your new.
often changes like this happen because of supply problems, or because it will save money.
Every month pretty much I get metformin from a different manufacturer from the pharmacy. I think it’s a constant way of finding the cheapest. They do the same with most drugs to be fair (Dapagliflozin and codeine etc.) except for bydureon, maybe only one manufacturer?
never been told by doctor though... I do wonder if there might be differences between brands but tend not to think about it

there is often a slight difference to the side effects between the different brands, I have found Sukkarto SR to be just as bad as normal Metformin and have decided to stop taking them
