New design for Coke Zero cans, looks good
I really do think a small wave... ...maybe just a teenie tiny one is building
I laughed out loud when I read the bit " in the context of recent meta-analyses" John Yudkin screamed this out in 1972, but hey he wasnt singing from the food industry carol sheet
I just wish they would fess up instead of keep drip feeding round to the truth. In the meantime peoples health is being wrecked
My Balance arrived today (last Wednesday) & of course I looked right through to see how the leading diabetes charity responded to the diabetes & weight issue that hit ALL the headlines two (3) weeks ago.
I mean the reports issued by the Public Health Collaboration & the National Obesity Forum.
“Coverage” is on page 49 in the article “Fad or Fiction” - “Butter is better”
... what about the rumours that sat fat might not be as bad for us as we were once led to believe ...?
Facts ... In fact, cutting down on saturated fats like butter, & replacing them with unsat fats ... can reduce your risk. ... For a healthy heart, choose spreads made from unsaturated oils.
So, the 39 page PHC report, by a team of respected doctors & diabetes specialists, quoting 64 references and supported by many on this forum is no more than "A RUMOUR."
I note also in the magazine what appears to be confirmation of statistics presented in the PHC report:
... However, according to the latest "National Diet & Nutrition Survey" (2014) ... adults have been generally following healthy eating guidelines.
Balance, pages 3 & 45 appears to confirm this -
... 82% of people now eat more healthily....
The problem – the elephant in the room – is that both diabetes & obesity are increasing to epidemic proportions.
The PHC was formed to tackle the obesity/diabetes epidemic. Diabetes UK is making an excellent imitation of the proverbial ostrich.
This is the first time I've heard of Balance, what is it, who produces it and where can I get it from?...thanks

In terms of the Balance query, I did pass your email from 19 January on to my Editor for consideration. We receive many article suggestions here at Balance, so are unfortunately unable to use them all.

I note that the originator of the course,Dr Trudi Deakin, has adopted the low carb, high fat lifestyle & is now recommending diabetics & others of the health benefits.
This link gives the details:

Dr Deakin was interviewed for the Daily Mail & that interview can be read here:

I strongly recommend that you interview Dr Deakin for Balance on the question of diet.
"Balance" is the bimonthly magazine of "Diabetes UK."
IMO it is useless for T2 as it promotes the party line of starchy carbs & low fat.
My suggestion that they interview Dr Trudi Deakin (X-PERT course) got the brush-off:
It is no surprise to me that Diabetes UK are into fiction as it was founded by a Science Fiction author it is just carrying on in that tradition.
