No, not some oversized bloke baring his bum
Apparently the moon is closer to the Earth tonight than it will be for twenty years or so and consequently it will appear very large. I shall be going out to have a look later on, in the hope that there's some clear skies that allow me to see it - supposedly we're due some cloud, interspersed with clear intervals, in the Balmy South.
Interesting stuff.
Opinions seem to be varied. In the US, the moon will be at its closest at 8.52 am Eastern Standard Time, this morning - about lunchtime today in the UK. The tenor of most of the articles I have seen has been that, by tonight, the moon will be drawing away again, hence last night was the best time to see it. I am not a physicist, or any other kind of -ist, so I could be wrong. Presumably it will still be relatively close tonight, in any event......Its the Super Moon tomorrow night.
Not as big as I thought it would be, but still worth a look! No, not some oversized bloke baring his bum
